Northrop Grumman Strategic Space Systems Division (SSSD) has an
opening for a Principal/Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer to join
our team of qualified, diverse individuals in the Vehicle &
Software Engineering Department. This position will support the
test, design, and procurement of solar array sub-assemblies from
multiple suppliers. This position will be based out of Redondo
Beach, CA.
The responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the
following:
Produce photovoltaic array electrical design-related engineering
drawings and specifications
Planning and execution of design, analysis, test, and qualification
and may include mechanical solar array structures
Provide status, problem resolution plans, and input as an
Integrated Process Team (IPT) member to a complete solar array
mechanical/electrical design and production efforts
Support weekly subcontract telecoms, review in-process data, attend
Manufacturing Readiness Reviews (MRRs) and Test Readiness Reviews
(TRRs), review test data, and support pre-shipment readiness review
meeting
Develop cost estimates and track efforts to these estimates
This requisition may be filled at either a Principal Electrical
Engineer level or Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer level based on
the qualifications listed below.
Basic Qualifications for Principal Electrical Engineer:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical
discipline in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or
Mathematics) from an accredited university with 5 years of
engineering experience OR Master's Degree in STEM with 3 years of
engineering experience
Hands-on experience in mechanical/electrical troubleshooting of
components and equipment
Technical writing experience for test procedures and technical
documentation
Understanding of mechanical and electrical drawings including
electrical schematics and assembly drawings
Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical
discipline in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or
Mathematics) from an accredited university with 9 years of
engineering experience OR Master's Degree in STEM with 7 years of
engineering experience
Hands-on experience in mechanical/electrical troubleshooting of
components and equipment
Technical writing experience for test procedures and technical
documentation
Understanding of mechanical and electrical drawings including
electrical schematics and assembly drawings
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with procurement of aerospace hardware design and/or
development of components
Must have a working knowledge of solar cells and experience with
solar cell electrical testing
Active DoD Top Secret and/or SCI clearance
Working and programming knowledge with LabView
Demonstrated multidisciplinary skills and ability to work with
manufacturing and other engineering disciplines

Salary Range: $101,400 USD - $152,200 USD
Salary Range 2: $125,800 USD - $188,600 USD
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to
base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual
contributions as well as allow employees to share in company
results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be
eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman
