Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking an Associate Mission Payload Systems Engineer to work in Redondo Beach, California.
The Associate Mission Payload Systems Engineer will support architecture trades, design analysis, requirement thread, segment interface development and ownership, and performance modeling through computer simulation. This individual will provide systems engineering support to hardware developments for space, and ground systems utilizing state-of-the-art optical (sensing, communications, directed energy),RF, digital and microelectronics. Project roles span all phases of product development cycle, from new business acquisition, and IRAD/ technology development to established programs delivering integrated hardware and software systems. Systems engineering activities include system architecture design, trade studies, specification development, requirement definition and allocation, performance analysis and simulation; system modeling and simulation tool development, payload product development, support to hardware design, subcontract leadership, management and selection, manufacturing, integration and test, and operations.
Essential experience in one or more of the following areas:



  • Overhead Infrared (OPIR) system


  • Electro-Optics


  • Sensor design


  • Remote sensing


  • High energy laser systems


  • Lasercom systems


  • Spacecraft system design


  • Image processing


  • RF and digital hardware design


  • Signal detection and estimation


    Basic Qualifications:


    • Bachelors of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline OR a Masters of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline


    • Experience with remote sensing, Space Situational Awareness (SSA), communications or directed energy


    • Experience designing, integrating, testing and operating optical and RF systems


    • Active DoD Top Secret/SSBI and/or Active SCI


      Preferred Qualifications:


      • Bachelors, Masters or Doctorate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Computer Science


      • Experience with remote sensing, Space Situational Awareness (SSA), communications or directed energy


      • Experience designing, integrating, testing and operating optical and RF systems


      • Candidates have completed relevant coursework in optics, lasercom, and DSP


      • Experience with baseband and IR sensors, high energy lasers, and remote sensing


      • Possesses strong leadership qualities, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills


        Salary Range: $68,100.00 - $102,100.00
        Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
