This part time role is located at our Redondo Beach facility in the greater Los Angeles area, and is part of the Vehicle Integration Department (PAI & OKC). The group's charter is to maintain and evolve capabilities in air vehicle subsystems technology that will continue to enable innovative solutions for our mission architectures.This Functional Manager position is responsible for providing leadership andmanagement support to a section consisting of between 10 to 20 engineeringleads and individual contributors. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, organized, independently directed with good problem solving skills, able to perform effectively despite concurrent work tasks and will possess strongcommunication, leadership, and team building skills. Travel, both domestic andinternational, up to 25% may be required for this role.As a Functional Section Manager (SM) reporting to the Department Managerwithin the Vehicle Integration Department (PAI & OKC), approximately 15%of the SM's time will be spent performing leadership, people management, andsupervisory duties such as management of personnel (direction & coaching),program/project reviews, coordination of job assignments, staffing, recruiting,timecard approval, performance reviews, and process improvement activities. Inaddition, the individual will support technology and business developmentactivities, proposals, and design reviews. The balance of the time (85%) isexpected to be spent supporting direct programs.Responsibilities include leading a team of 10-20 people who manage aircraftsubsystems architecture, suppliers, analysis, and testing. Specificresponsibilities include technical and managerial leadership, problem solving,business support/budget management, hiring/staffing, and other functionalactivities. The successful candidate is expected to spend his/her time managing the team as well as working directly on a variety of air vehicle technicalprograms.The successful candidate must have experience working with diverse technicalteams, and must also be experienced with the design, assembly and/or test offlight hardware. Experience with flight hardware acceptance testing anddocumentation is preferred.Qualifications :Basic Qualifications:BS degree in a STEM (Science, Engineering, Technology and Mathematics) discipline with 9 years of experience or Masters with 7 years of experience.Ability to travel within the US and InternationallyAbility to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearancePreferred Qualifications:Master's degree in Engineering preferredPrior technical and subcontracts management experience, along with a trackrecord of leading a highly skilled team and suppliers in the design integrationphases of air vehicle systems within schedule, labor and material costrequirements is preferred.Prior management and cost account management experience including EVMSExperience with the design, development, and implementation of aircraftmechanisms and fire protection systems as well as a working knowledge ofcomplex mechanical/electrical subsystems and integration of subsystemshardware and software into vehicle systems is desirable.Current, active DoD Secret ClearancePrior experience as a Vehicle Systems IPT Lead or the ability to execute as aVehicle Systems IPT Lead. A Vehicle Systems IPT Lead is responsible for thedesign, development and supplier management of the Arresting Hook System,Weapons Bay Door Drive System, Fire Protection Systems as well as PropulsionIntegration. The IPT Lead will work with a team of Responsible Engineers tointerface with Supply Chain Management and Leadership Teams from theSuppliers to build relations, ensure product quality and performance aremaintained in a fast-paced, dynamic production environment. This includes theeffort to define the systems and the integrated planning and control of thetechnical program efforts of design and specialty engineering, as well as themanagement of supplier procurement, production on time delivery and technical execution.Northrop Grumman is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
