The Payload and Ground Systems (PGS) division of Northrop Grumman's Space Systems sector seeks team members who want to solve interesting, complex problems which protect our nation. We are a trusted mission payload and ground system provider with extensive experience providing end-to-end mission solutions from concept through operations and support. The team you will support is located at our Space Park campus in Redondo Beach, CA.


What you'll get to do?


As a Sr. Staff Systems Engineer, you will directly support the Ground SEIT IPT lead in leading the systems engineering and integration and test team in the campaign to refine requirements in support of the verification campaign, coordinate with customers to ensure alignment to contractually required product deliveries and documentation, influence the program's roadmap planning, and provide systems engineering guidance to the teams.


Some key tasks:


Guide the segment thread leads as they refine verification plans and collect evidence to support requirement sell-off to the system.


Work with product owners to ensure product roadmaps align with needed integration schedule and pipeline build plans


Brief customers on status of development, verification, and other technical subjects requiring closure.


Design and development of C&T database architecture and C&T database products used to facilitate C&T data integration of space systems.


Development of data flow and change management to ensure data product compatibility in support of program development, test, and ops activities.


Development of data format requirements (ICD's) utilized in handoffs with data suppliers and customers of C&T data.


Basic Qualifications:


Bachelor's degree in STEM with 14 years of related experience, or a Master's degree in STEM with 12 years of related experience, or a PhD in STEM with 9 years of related experience


Working knowledge of systems engineering principles and processes


Active DoD Top Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain SCI access or active SCI access


Preferred Qualifications:


Experience with Agile development


Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering languages (SysML/UML) and concepts


Direct experience using the DOORS Requirements Management Database


Direct experience providing technical leadership, direction and mentoring to other technical employees to achieve practical end results


Direct experience with formally presenting technical solutions to senior leadership.


Direct experience with working C & T databases


Salary Range: $173,300 USD - $259,900 USD


Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
