About the Role: Northrop Grumman is looking for a Software Engineer to join the ESS Program! The ESS satellites and ground systems are intended for nuclear command control and communications. ESS satellites will have new features, such as enhanced cybersecurity and polar coverage. This is the highly classified architecture that enables the national command authority to communicate with strategic bombers, ballistic submarines and intercontinental ballistic missiles dispersed throughout the United States.The Space Force is funding a separate constellation for military tactical communications. It plans to spend about $2.5 billion over the next five years to continue the development of the Protected Tactical Satcom, or PTS, satellites and a ground system called Protected Tactical Enterprise Service, or PTES. Northrop Grumman is developing the PTS payloads and expected to launch prototype payloads in 2024 for on-orbit demonstrations. Basic Qualifications: Active Secret Clearance (or higher) REQUIRED Strong experience with software design and development in C, C++ Experience with real-time software development for real-time operating systems such as VxWorks and/or Linux Experience within industry is required space systems or satellite systemsPreferred Qualifications: 5+ years experience within Aerospace and Defense Significant experience across the full life cycle including software systems architecture development, requirements definition and analysis, OO development, code and unit test, system integration and test Technical leadership experience in embedded software development for satellite/ground systems Experience as software reliability engineer or software test engineer About Actalent: Actalent connects passion with purpose.
