Join the Space revolution and make the impossible, possible.Northrop Grumman Strategic Space Systems Division (SSSD) has an opening for a Director Systems Engineering 1 - Next Generation Polar Program (NGP) Chief Engineer, to join our teams of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.As the NGP Chief Engineer, you will serve as the definitive technical authority for all aspects of engineering on the program and acts as both a technical leader for the engineering team and as an independent advisor to the Program Manager.The successful candidate will have:
    • Strong communication, collaboration, leadership and team building skills inclusive of suppliers are essential.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, and the ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities.
    • Excellent supervisory and interpersonal skillsResponsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
      • Serve as the primary customer interface for technical matters
      • Lead the development and maturation of the technical baseline for the NGP program
      • Lead team of Element level Chief Engineers to ensure technical baseline is optimized across all elements within program constraints
      • Lead system level trades in collaboration with all Element IPTs
      • Own system level risks and opportunities and ensure resolution of Top Issues
      • Ensures detail design approaches comply with Sector best design/architecture approaches throughout the entire design process
      • Ensures that design for producibility/affordability practices are employed
      • Oversee long-range planning as relates to technical conceptual development and execution
      • Chair program level engineering boards
      • In conjunction with the MSEI IPT, ensure baseline design (including product support elements) integrates across the system to satisfy customer requirements and company standards and policiesBasic Qualifications:
        • Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline or higher
        • 10 years of experience in Systems Engineering
        • Active DoDTop Secret and/or SCI and/or SSBI
        • Prior experience as a team leadPreferred Qualifications:
          • Advanced Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math)
          • Aptitude to develop and execute to a strategy
          • Prior project management experience
          • Prior systems engineering leadership experience related to requirements and interface development and decomposition
          • Active SCI clearance preferred Salary Range: $198,200 USD - $297,200 USD Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
