Northrop Grumman SSSD has an opening for a Manager Systems Engineering 3 - Space Vehicle Design & Integration Department Manager to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Space Park, CA. The Space Vehicle Design & Integration Department Manager will lead a group of 100+ engineers responsible for Space Vehicle level systems engineering functions associated with design, integration, and accommodation. This includes general Space Vehicle Systems Engineering, Space Vehicle Architectures, Launch Systems Integration, Testbeds, Mass Properties, Sensor Analysis and Alignment, and Fault Management & System Autonomy. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to the Space Vehicle Design & Integration SE department ensuring department members have sufficient statement of work, managing employee performance, coordinating with programs to ensure appropriate staff actions are developed and executed, and ensuring department employees are familiar with and use required engineering processes and tools. Responsibilities also include day-to-day operation of the functional organization such as balancing of resources among programs and resolving critical/urgent program issues. The Space Vehicle Design & Integration Department Manager will also be required to support program stand-ups, technical reviews, deep dives, and NAR/ICE activities. In addition, the Space Vehicle Design & Integration SE Department Manager will be responsible for helping to grow Space Systems Engineering and Integration at the Space Park site and supporting growth at the Gilbert, AZ site. To learn more about our hiring process for manager positions, please view our "Selecting the Best Qualified Managers" video: Basic Qualifications: - Bachelors of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accredited institution and 9+ years of experience in Systems Engineering (7+ with a MS, 5+ with a PhD) - Prior experience as a manager or team lead - Currently possess an Active SCI clearance Preferred Qualifications: - Advanced Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) - Project experience in System Engineering - Experience in space vehicle systems, integration, architecture, and design - Experience in functional management - Active TS and SSBI clearance - Excellent interpersonal skills - Aptitude to develop and execute to a strategy - Self-directed technical leader with strong verbal and written communication skills Northrop Grumman offers a competitive and robust benefits program.
