Join the Space revolution and make the impossible possible.Northrop Grumman Strategic Space Systems Division (SSSD) has an opening for a Staff Mechanical Test Engineer within the Mechanical Engineering and Ground Support Department. The primary work location for this position at Northrop Grumman's Space Park Campus in Redondo Beach, California.As a Staff Mechanical Test Engineer, a qualified candidate is expected to have a broad understanding of space hardware, testing methods, floor operations, and tools. Mechanical Test Engineers (MTE) plan and coordinate the operations required to build and test flight hardware at all levels - subassembly through complete systems. The work is primarily at Space Park but can include periodic travel depending on the specific program requirements. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.Basic Qualifications:Bachelors of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline plus 14 years of engineering experience OR a Masters of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline plus 12 years of engineering experience.Proven leadership experience on a project and/or teamPrevious experience supporting space programs in integration and test OR manufacturing environmentCandidate must have, and be able to maintain, at least ONE of the following active U.S. Government security clearances: Department of Defense Top Secret level with a background investigation date within 6 years OR SCI Access with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within 5 years OR Department of Energy Q clearance with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within 5 years.Preferred Qualifications:Masters' Degree in Mechanical EngineeringPrevious experience in designing and executing test seriesExperience writing procedures for aerospace applicationsSalary Range: $146,000 USD - $219,000 USDEmployees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
