Northrop Grumman Military Internship Program (NG-MIP) is an
approved SkillBridge Program under Dept. of Defense Instruction
1322.29. The NG-MIP program is an opportunity for transitioning
service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through
an individual internship during their last 6 months of service, for
up to 180 days. The Northrop Grumman Military internship Program is
open to all ranks and experience levels. SkillBridge participants
are not eligible for compensation from Northrop Grumman, as they
continue to receive military compensation and benefits as
active-duty service members.
Responsibilities for this internship position are:
Northrop Grumman Corporation (NGC) has developed the Northrop
Grumman - Military Internship Program (DoD SKillbridge) utilizing
the DoDI guidance for Skillbridge. During this program the service
member will be on-site at his or her host company performing an
individual internship in an entry to mid-level career type role.
The service member will be on the job training supporting a work
schedule equivalent to 40hrs per week. Outlined below are the
Goals, Objectives, and Outcomes for the program.
Goals - Provide transitioning service members fellowship-style job
skills training during the last portion(s) of their military
commitment. This program is specifically designed to offer
internships that result in the potential to transition to a
full-time opportunity as the conclusion of the training. Interns
will serve as a pipeline for high-speed, motivated military
candidates into NGC.
Objectives - Service Members who complete the Intern program will
be highly-trained, capable, future employees that align to the
specific needs of the organization and are prepared to meet the NG
mission "Defining Possible" on Day 1. This program provides a
comprehensive internship experience including professional
development, networking with leadership, and training specifically
focused on NG leadership principles, company history,
customer/stakeholder engagement, product and service overview, and
core job responsibilities.
Outcome - Offer transitioning service member a rewarding
opportunity to join the Northrop Grumman team.
DoD SkillBridge Eligibility:
Has served at least 180 days on active duty.
Is within 12 months of separation or retirement.
Will receive an honorable discharge.
Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS
Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12
months.
Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain
of command) written authorization and approval to participate in
DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship.

Northrop Grumman SSSD has an opening for a Quality Engineer to join
our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be
located in Redondo Beach, CA.
Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation and
control systems and protocols for processing materials into
partially finished or finished materials product. Collaborates with
engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards
are in place. Devises and implements methods and procedures for
inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of
products and production equipment. Designs and analyzes inspection
and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality
assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the
cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials
that do not meet required standards and specifications. Audits
quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.
Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability
standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material,
production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory
control and/or research and development as they apply to product or
process quality. May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality
engineering methodologies.
Essential Function:
Become the expert in the nonconformance flow and each factor of the
nonconformance process
Understand and assimilate large amounts of complex data,
simplifying it for appropriate actions and communication.
Provide problem solving approaches that are sensitive to and
effective within a wide variety of cultural frames of reference,
value systems and business practices.
Work within the manufacturing and spacecraft integration process to
support nonconformance resolution and proper Root Cause and
Corrective Action implementation.
Assist in development of effective yet practical solutions, and
eliminate organizational obstacles for implementing positive
corrective actions.
Successfully interact with different levels in the organization to
drive nonconformance investigations and resolutions effectively and
efficiently
Work within the configuration management process to ensure
processes exist and identify processes that need to be created or
improved.
Job Responsibilities:
Reduce the Cost of Poor Quality by identifying actionable trends
and work within the assigned Work Center(s) to drive improvements
with the end goal of reducing the number of Non-conformances
Review nonconformance reports for data accuracy.
Understand technical and Mission Assurance (MA) requirements and
ensure these requirements are integrated into specifications and
product drawings.
Provide information in discrepancy review, failure investigations,
as well as cause and corrective action determinations.
Support Mission Assurance at different review boards such as a
Corrective Action Boards (CAB), & Material Review Boards (MRB).
Provide tracking and reporting metrics and provide support for
internal and external MA briefings.
Support root cause and problem solving analysis.
Assist in monitoring the COPQ for systemic issues and make
recommendations for Corrective Actions.
Ensure approved tasks from Nonconforming Reports, Material Review
Boards (MRBs) and Failure Review Boards (FRBs) are completed
expeditiously.
Reviews, designs and analyzes manufacturing, integration,
inspection and testing processes and work instructions.

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule
allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday
to take every other Friday off.
Basic Qualification
Must have a BS in a STEM Discipline (preferably Engineering)
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a space/aerospace environment
within Safety and Mission Assurance (or Quality Assurance)
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret/SCI
clearance.
Able to read engineering documentation and inspect to drawings and
parts lists, inspection plans, and supplemental instructions.
Able to read and interpret schematics and block diagrams for
verifications of test setups.
Willingness to work off shift activities with occasional overtime,
weekend, and Holiday support as required.
Willingness to support 2nd shift (if required), and occasionally
(though not often) 3rd shift support for short periods of
Spacecraft testing.
Willingness to travel in support of ITL level activities is
required.
Fluent in use of Microsoft applications and ability to learn new
computer programs/applications.

Working knowledge of J-STD/NASA workmanship specifications, with
regard to Circuit Card Assembly (CCA), Harness and Space System

Salary Range: $77,100.00 - $115,700.00
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to
base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual
contributions as well as allow employees to share in company
results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be
eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman
