Strategic Space Systems Division has an opening for a Staff
Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineer to join our team of qualified,
diverse individuals and maintain our world class capabilities in a
dynamic environment. Areas of support include, but are not limited
to, antennas, composites, mechanisms & sensors, cables & harnesses,
propulsion, and solar arrays. This position will be located in
Redondo Beach, CA.The ideal candidate will be required to apply
engineering principles to act as the liaison between engineering
definition and production areas. The individual will have broad
knowledge of manufacturing techniques and problem solving in order
to contribute to the timely planning and execution of mechanical
production, integration and test of spacecraft. Typical tasking of
this role may include:
- Generating manufacturing flows to build and test hardware that
is compliant with engineering drawings, specifications, and
requirements documents
- Generating manufacturing work instructions that adhere to
processes, engineering and quality requirements
- Generating and maintaining MBOMs
- Creating and maintaining work orders from master process plans
through plan closure
- Defining tooling requirements and coordinating the fabrication
of tooling
- Conducting manufacturing readiness reviews and design
reviews
- Providing support to the production floor during fabrication
and assembly phases
- Enabling feedback loop with engineering definition for
producibility, affordability, and incorporation of lessons
learned
- Participation in project management, manufacturing scheduling
and/or earned value management for program or functional
initiativesThe selected candidate must possess strong communication
and technical writing skills, as well as an ability and desire to
learn and problem solve. The individual must also thrive in a
collaborative environment, working across organizations to
coordinate readiness for manufacturing execution.Basic
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree plus 14 years of technical experience OR
Master's Degree plus 12 years of technical experience OR High
School Diploma/General Education Diploma (G.E.D) plus 18 years of
technical experience
- Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret
Clearance or SCI AccessPreferred Qualifications:
- Active DoD Top Secret clearance or SCI access
- Ability to operate in a large team environment
- Excellent communication and technical writings skills
- Extensive experience with composites, mechanisms & sensors,
antenna products, or propulsion systems
- Experience with manufacturing execution systems, SAP, and other
production coordination tools
- Demonstrated experience in project leadership, project
management, and/or managing production resources Salary Range:
$146,000 USD - $219,000 USD Employees may be eligible for a
discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are
designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow
employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President
or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In
addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including
