Join the Space revolution and make the impossible, possible SSSD has an opening for a Printed Wiring Board (PWB) Materials and Process Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California. The selected candidate will be part of the Macroelectronics Materials and Processes Engineering Section supporting various space systems Essential Functions: Multi-task and have a good understanding of materials and processes (M&P) used in the design and fabrication of Hi-Reliability Printed Wiring Boards (PWBs). Experience with materials selection, drawings, plating, PWB processes, producibility, test procedures and qualification of PWBs. Have a good understanding of the industry specifications used for design and fabrication of rigid and flex PWBs including IPC-6011, IPC-6012, IPC-6013, and IPC-6018 among others. Take ownership of tasks, oversee delegated tasks, check results for accuracy and document the results. Participate in design reviews, program reviews, vendor qualification, failure analysis, trade studies and qualification review boards in support of PWB related issues. Formulate detailed instructions/test plans and be the lead in their execution with a proven understanding of data analysis methodologies and knowledge of design and manufacturing processes. Collaborate closely with PWB Subject Matter Experts, PWB suppliers, procurement, design, manufacturing, and quality engineers as well as functional management. Knowledge of electronics design and Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) processes is a plus.

The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment and collaborative/team settings across all levels. This position requires a leader as well as a team player who will have significant interaction with management, and engineering personnel from other areas.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
5 years of engineering experience in PWB materials and processes OR 3 years of engineering experience in PWB materials and process Master's Degree in Science Technology Engineering Mathematics
Broad knowledge of M&P used in the design and fabrication of PWBs
Familiarity with NASA/IPC/Military and other industry specifications
Ability to obtain and DoD Top Secret or SCI clearance

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in STEM
Experience with materials selection, drawings and qualification of PWBs
Proven experience developing and executing test plans for analysis and qualification of PWBs, materials, and processes
Experience with design and manufacturing of Hi-Rel PWBs (Rigid, RF and Flex) for space applications
Knowledge of PWB design, fabrication and PWB vendor oversight
Experience with qualification PWBs for space applications
Active, In scope DoD Top Secret or SCI clearance
